Save a recipe

Use Import to paste a public recipe link, paste recipe text, or choose a screenshot with readable recipe text. Check the ingredients, directions, attribution, and meal category before saving. You can enter missing details yourself.

In Safari or another app, open the Share menu, choose Save to Simmer, and review or queue the source. If your cookbook does not open automatically, open Simmer yourself to finish the import.

Five free imports, then a one-time unlock

You can successfully save five complete imported recipes for free. A complete recipe has ingredients and directions. Failed attempts and incomplete bookmarks do not use a free import. Updating the same counted recipe or editing it does not use another import. Deleting recipes does not refill the free allowance.

The optional Unlimited Recipe Imports purchase removes the number limit. It is a one-time purchase, with no subscription. The purchase screen shows the current price in your App Store currency. Unlimited imports do not guarantee that every website or social post can be read.

You can continue to read, cook, edit, and organize saved recipes when the free allowance is used up.

Restore an existing purchase

Sign into the App Store with the Apple Account used for the purchase. Open Simmer's unlimited-imports screen and choose Restore Purchases. An internet connection may be needed. Restoring the purchase restores unlimited imports, but does not restore your cookbook from another device.

A link has no usable recipe

Some sites block reading, require sign-in, or publish recipes only inside a video. Try sharing the visible page from Safari, pasting the creator's written ingredients and directions, or selecting a readable screenshot. Simmer does not transcribe spoken video recipes or invent missing ingredients.

For a Facebook recipe in a comment, open the Reel in Simmer's browser, expand the comment containing the recipe, then choose Import this page. The browser can read only the content Facebook makes available. Removed, private, or restricted posts may remain unavailable.

Keep your cookbook safe

Your cookbook is stored on this device. Simmer does not provide cross-device sync or cookbook export. Avoid deleting the app if you want to keep your saved cookbook. Original website photos may stop loading if the source removes or changes them.

If Simmer says a change was not saved, check your available device storage and retry. If Simmer cannot open the cookbook, the saved file is kept; reopen the app before making changes.
